Brief project Description:
The design of the project consists of an urban demolition structure / machine in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The device demolishes parts of the city that are considered to be derelict or redundant and thus creating open spaces in congested parts of the city. Reference here is made to Haussmann’s Renovations of Paris by demolitions in the 19th century. The project demonstrates the nomadic condition of the UAE city, with is fast changing by commercially driven projects. The device, like a time machine re-invents and partly erases the memory of the city.
