THE ARCHITECTURAL LABORATORY

A design studio organized by the Center for the Study of the Built Environment (CSBE). The Architectural Laboratory is an eight-week design studio, extending from July 6 – August 29, 2003, which is intended to provide 15 advanced architecture students and junior architects with the opportunity to investigate, in an atelier environment, various issues relating to architectural design. The participants will work with a group of instructors that includes highly accomplished, award winning architects from inside and outside Jordan. The studio will emphasize a series of skills relating to the creation of architecture ranging from the conceptual to the technical. The team of instructors for the Architectural Laboratory consists of the following:

Sahel al-Hiyari, architect, Amman
Hani Imam Husseini, architect, Amman
George Katodrytis, architect and professor of architecture, Sharjah
Mehmet Konuralp, architect, Istanbul
Suha Ozkan, architect and historian of architectural theory, Geneva
Yasir Sakr, architect and professor of architecture, Amman
Jafar Tukan, architect, Amman
Farouk Yaghmour, architect and planner, Amman
