George Katodrytis, BA(Hons), A.A. Dip., RIBA

George Katodrytis is an Architect involved in practice, teaching and research. He is currently Associate Professor of Architecture at the American University of Sharjah, UAE. He studied architecture at the University of Manchester and the Architectural Association (AA). He worked with Bernard Tschumi in Paris, and with Michael Hopkins in London. He has taught at the AA and Bartlett. He has been a visiting professor at various schools in the UK and US, and at the Academy of Architecture in Moscow.

In 1994, he established “George Katodrytis Architects” and built a large number of projects. He has lectured and made presentations in the UK, USA, Russia, Estonia, Finland, Czech Republic, Thailand, Turkey and the UAE. He has exhibited in the UK, USA, Australia, Greece, Japan, Belgium, Italy and the UAE. He has published in the UK, Greece, Germany, Belgium, Japan, the UAE, and built in the UK, Cyprus and the UAE. He has participated in a number of architectural conferences and competitions, including an invited competition for the Cultural Centre, Jumeira Palm, Dubai.

StudioNova Architects was established in 2003. The practice is involved in contemporary architecture, urbanism and cultural theory. Digital technology is adopted as a tool for establishing new formal languages. Experimentation and writings on contemporary design methods, processes and fabrication techniques, as well as advanced use of digital media are adopted for the design of small and large projects. The work addresses the contemporary “city,” especially as it is evolving in the 21st century.
